Immersion Collage Art Workshops with Cecil Touchon

Join internationally recognized collage artist and founder/director of the International Museum of Collage, Assemblage and Construction, Cecil Touchon in Cuernavaca, Mexico for an immersive collage art  workshop. Explore the techniques, history and aesthetics of the collage art medium including composition, color and formal relationships and develop a personal visual language through an examination and analysis of  the elements of the visual culture all around us.  Learn to tap into your creative reserves through the development of techniques that encourage spontaniety. Explore the chance meeting and fusion of visual imagery through the constructive process of collage-making. Explore a wide range of material techniques to manipulate and alter your collage materials and images to make sophisticated and provocative works of art.

Learn tips for gathering and organizing collage materials, establishing and maintaining a collage art studio, conserving, documenting and professionally exhibiting your finished art works.

Participants will work in the relaxed, intimate atmosphere of Collage Museum's conservatory in close proximity to other artists attending this intensive period of learning and sharing. 

Visit regional museums and archeological sites for added inspiration.

The Collage Art Workshop will include a stay at the spacious bed and breakfast and gallery (http://casadelartista.com/), breakfast will be included morning and afternoon classes taught be Cecil Touchon (5 hours per day total) with unstructured studio time for the afternoon with evenings spent hanging out, talking, going out on the town, etc. The classes will involve constructing collages, exploring different types of collage, montage, etc. discussion of historical context, strategies to find, collect and store material, best practices for working in collage, studio practices, framing, gallery and exhibition concerns, etc.

There will be a limit of 6 participants. It should be highly inspiring and very interactive and, of course, Cuernavaca is a wonderful place to hang out and make art with perfect year round weather and only 1.5 hours from the airport in Mexico City.

This could also be a great opportunity for those who have never been to Mexico before because you'll be in good hands here and we'll help guide you through the process of coming down and could even pick you up at the airport in Mexico City if you need it for an additional 80.00 per person.
