FOCUS
GALLERIES: The Art of Stuart and Scott Gentling: A Retrospective
|
|
September 5
- October 20, 2007
In this first retrospective exhibit since the untimely
death of Stuart Gentling, Curator Daniel Blagg and several Fort
Worth collectors, along with Scott Gentling, have worked to
create a survey of the extensive artwork of the twin brothers. The
exhibit features a selection of birds, landscapes, portraits and
still-lifes, offering a view into the creative life of these Texas
icons.
The Gentlings are twin brothers, artists, authors, and
lecturers based in Fort Worth. Their awards are numerous; their
paintings may be found in museums, libraries and private collections
throughout Texas and the United States. The brothers are best known for
the sky mural in the dome of Bass Performance Hall and an Audubon-style
folio of paintings and essays, Of Birds and Texas. Scott received a
commission to paint a portrait of President George Bush for the Texas
State Capitol dome. In 1999, during the 100th anniversary of the Texas
Audubon Society, the society honored the Gentlings by designating them
as their Centennial Artist.
Focus
Gallery Exhibitions are a presentation of the Exhibition Advisory Panel
of the FWCAC and the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County.

Most artists incorporate color in their visual
vocabulary for emotional impact and they utilize it, along with the
other formal elements to communicate their message. Without the
seduction and impact of color the strength of the remaining elements
determines the effectiveness of the artwork in conveying the content -
the message. Reducing the palette to white forced the artists to
reconsider their visual vocabulary and challenged them to incorporate a
more simplified linguistic approach. - Gary A. Bibb
The International Museum of Collage, Assemblage and
Construction is located in Fort Worth, Texas and Cuernavacva,
Mexico. The IMCAC is dedicated to the collection, study and exhibition
of collage, assemblage, construction, montage, photo-montage, digital
collage, concrete poetry, collage poetry, film, sound collage, and
other constructive arts.

obstacles facing blacks, from lynching and Ku Klux Klan operations in
its earlier publications to the later rise in violence among blacks.

TAC
Featured Artist Bill Barter
|
Reception
for the Artist |
October 5,
2007
7PM - 9PM
|
|
|
October 5 -
December 29, 2007
After many years of looking at art, contemporary art in
particular, Bill Barter liked best work which is abstract with
little or no recognizable imagery; and has "something else" about it,
some arrangement of formal qualities that grabs him. He works primarily
in oil and monotype in a constant, somewhat perfectionist and obsessive
attempt to achieve that "something else." The bottom line is that he
makes things that he likes.
Bill Barter
is the Texas Artists Coalition Featured Artist for this quarter year.
He received this award for his work in the 2007 TAC Juried Membership
Show.
