Mindy Smith
from Pembroke Pines, FL, USA.

Mindy Smith, a South Florida artist, finds rapture in the sense of freedom mixed media collage offers. Working with organic, commercial and found objects, she is a colorist who creates evocative images with a fresh style and her own painterly touch.

"I found out about the 5th Baker's Dozen International Collage Exchange only days before the mailing date. The next day I was struck by an awful two-day migraine. I decided to use the series as a way to work through the migraine. The flashes of light behind my eyes and intense pain in my head became the deliberate lines and deep resonating colors expressed in the collages."

"The pieces in this series couldnot have been created had I not been working through the migraine. My style comes through the pain, yet the influence of the migraine adds depth and a sense of mystery that otherwise would not exist."

Mindy actively exhibits her work and has attracted collectors across the U.S. She hopes to reach a broader audience by participating in international venues.
