War - Just what we need ?
Completed in Feb of 2003 these collage reflect the many debates leading up to the war in Iraq.
There were many arguments within New zealand (and Im sure everywhere else) about the need for war.
I was mad at the time about the amount of unnecessary violence in the world today.
I have used images of war and violence from children's books (the place we are teaching our children the pros of war and violence), overlaid these with a dictionary definition of war from a 1966 Funk & Wagnalls, and finally added an imprint from a 60's newspaper advertising block.
The final work I think asks a rhetorical question which fits to any war of any time or place.
